Fresh Pasta

I have been following the blog of this Singapore girl who has married a French guy and has been living in Western Europe for more than a decade now. Her write-ups interest me. She is a mom of 3 who loves shopping, travel, the arts, cooking.... I can feel a bit of connection with her. I'm a mom of 2 beautiful kids -- a 5-yr old boy and a 3-yr old girl; I love to travel; I love and support the arts; I enjoy cooking and last but not the least, I love shopping =). These plus the fact that I lived in Singapore for almost 3 years make me connect with her even more.

Anyway, she is currently in Modena, Italy and have shared in her blog all sorts of things about the place. I love how she has sorta immersed herself into wherever she is curently in -- learning to speak the language, dipping into the culture, supporting the local events, appeciating the lovely things in the place that locals usually overlook (like choosing to turn her children's birthday celebration into an educational tour where one birthday was spent in a vineyard and her kids and their classmates got to harvest grapes and see the process of making grape juice or balsamic vinegar (it's made out of the same grape, just different process). Her passion to learn is amazing. She is already an accomplished cook but is still willing to learn ...and from the locals -- like attending a pasta making class. I love pasta truth be told but I never thought of making fresh pasta until I read her blog. I find it really interesting. Very Italian. Cool!

I am on leave from work on Saturday to attend my children's graduation program. I had the morning to spare as the program is still in the afternoon so I thought I would try to make fresh pasta. It is easy to make, time consuming but rewarding. Fresh pasta is superb. If I have the time, I will choose to use fresh pasta everytime ... IF I have the time.

Ingredients (this makes 3-4 servings)
300 grams all-purpose flour
3 eggs

My rolling pin -- the bottle of Australian Nectarine wine from my brother-in-law. The wine has probably expired, just keeping it because the bottle is so pretty :)

The beauty is in the imperfection -- at least in pasta

My baby girl's "pasta" made out of pink Play-Doh. I love it!!!

I really heart Italy now. I love it's old-world charm. I don't mind living the rest of my life in Europe. Viva Beau Lotus for making me virtually see the beauty of Western Europe.

Style Inspiration

The January-February issue of Preview Magazine inspired me to the hilt. These pages in particular...the fashion editors worldwide especially those who work in Vogue Paris or what's called the Voguettes, thus, the name of my blog (mum, coz I'm a mom :))... I first 'fell in love' with Melanie Huynh, then with Carine Roitfeld...now there's a lot of them whose style I love.... They inspire me.
